George Lands 2 New Disney Shows

Music

George is set to write the themes and provide music library and score to 2 new Disney shows, Parker Plays and Polaris Primetime. As KidsScreen.com’s article put it:

With US video game hardware, software and accessory sales growing 10% in April to the tune of US$636 million, Disney is set to launch D|XP, a daily summer programming block on Disney XD that celebrates gaming culture and community.

Premiering Saturday, July 15 and running from 9:00 p.m. to 3:00 a.m. ET, the block and its multiplatform extensions will feature original programming devoted to entertainment gaming and eSports that highlight games, publishers, key events and prominent personalities.

Targeted to gamers of all ages, but focused primarily on the 13-plus demographic, D|XP content includes new Disney shows produced in partnership with ESPN, Disney Digital Network and its Maker creators, IGN, Attack Media, Warner Bros. Television Group’s Blue Ribbon Content, Toronto, Canada’s Banger Films, ESL (Electronic Sports League) and VICE’s Waypoint.

Among the programming, Polaris Primetime is a weekly one-hour playthrough gaming and variety show hosted by popular entertainment gaming stars Jimmy Wong of Rocketjump and Strawburry17 (Meghan Camarena). Produced by Disney Digital Network through its gaming editorial voice Polaris and Digomind Productions, the show features scripted comedy, skits and guest appearances by gaming personalities including MatPat, Joey Graceffa and sWooZie.

Another Digomind co-production is Parker Plays, a daily half-hour series where host Parker Coppins of YouTube gaming channel ParkerGames offers comedic gameplay commentary on a selection of games.

Meanwhile, Polaris: Player Select is a “greatest hits” compilation series comprised of top videos from a number of Disney Digital Network’s Maker creators and YouTube stars like Jacksepticeye, Luzugames, Strawburry17, LordMinion777 and LDShadowLady.

Clips from all three shows will also launch across Polaris’ digital channels.

Both series will launch on July 15th on Disney XD. George is thankful to be part of a new type of programming that bridges the gap between the YouTube generation and TV.

George Lands Netflix Series “Llama Llama”

Music

George  is named the scoring composer for the new Netflix series based on the best-selling book series by Anna Dewdney, the show will follow the adventures of its titular character as he learns and grows alongside his closest friends. The series stars Jennifer Garner. Garner will voice Mama Llama.

“I’ve read Anna Dewdney’s Llama Llama books to my kids hundreds of times in the last 10 years,” Garner said in a statement. “Little did I know it would all count as rehearsal — I’m thrilled to bring Mama Llama to life for Netflix! The Llama Llamabooks are so fun to read, your kids won’t even notice they are learning life lessons, such as how to battle boredom, or braving the first day of school. But when your kids watch the coziness of Mama Llama’s relationship with her Little Llama, be ready for an extra snuggle as you connect, while learning about the world around you.”

George will score 30 episodes starting in April. The score is organic and features baritone ukulele, mandolin, acoustic guitar and many organic hand-played percussion instruments. George is thrilled to be part of such a staple in children’s books now coming to live in animation. George is also excited to be part of the Netflix lineup.
The series boasts an all-star creative team, including directors Rob Minkoff (The Lion King) and Saul Blinkoff (Doc McStuffins), showrunner Joe Purdy (Hey Arnold!), art director Ruben Aquino (Frozen), and producers Jane Startz (The Magic School Bus) and Andy Heyward (Captain Planet and the Planeteers).

Llama Llama will premiere in 2017. Will you and your llamas children be watching?
